Early Life

Salish Matter was born on November 29, 2009, in Nyack, New York, where she grew up in a creative home surrounded by cameras, music, and videos. Well… her father, Jordan, did reveal that in one of his videos on YouTube; saying that he, alongside his pregnant wife, Lauren, and then-3-year-old son, Hudson, were on a cruise in the Pacific Northwest when Hudson pretty much suggested the name Salish for his little sister, for whom Lauren was pregnant for, at the time.

“We were on the Salish Sea, and Hudson heard the word ‘Salish’ and said, ‘That would be a good name for my sister,’” he recalled.

“So then we kind of had to go with it. So Salish, if you hate your name, it’s all Hudson’s fault!”

Now, the family is often seen together in videos and photos, showing their fun and close bond and family moments. And, oh, Salish does have a pet dog named Boomer, who appears a lot in her videos.

Family Ancestry

Salish Matter comes from a very creative and artistic family line. Apparently: her grandmother, Paula Feiten, was a model who once worked with Ford Models and appeared in the 1966 film The Drifter. Salish’s grandmother, Paula, died in 2011, at which point Salish was nearly two years old.

On the other hand, her grandfather, Herbert Matter, was a well-known photographer who even worked with U.S. President John F. Kennedy on several projects.
